In the Mbunda religion, their beliefs involves a chief and a family member who holds the greatest power which is usually the chief's wife. During these times, the important rituals, ceremonies, and festivals were held in the palace quarters of Namampongwe. Throughout the years, some Mbunda have converted into Christianity while others practiced the traditional religion. Over half of the Mbunda are Christians and some have converted into Catholicism. Although some have converted into Christianity and Catholicism, our gathered information indicates that their traditional belief is still widely held.
ARTs:
The Mbunda are talented hunters, soldiers and very skilled at making pottery (making pots and jars out of baked clay). Furthermore, they are skilled iron and copper workers; the iron is used to make tools and weapons which is often traded to neighboring countries. Most of their art is usually associated with the royal family and wooden statues.
